“I take joy in doing your will, my God, for your instructions are written on my heart. I have told all your people about your justice. I have not been afraid to speak out, as you, O Lord, well know. I have not kept the good news of your justice hidden in my heart; I have talked about your faithfulness and saving power. I have told everyone in the great assembly of your unfailing love and faithfulness” (Psalm 40: 8-10).
My family and I have grown up in OCF since Sue and I joined as new believers until now with 3 adult children and 11 grandkids. Regular visits to the Conference Centers were a key part of that process. Witness that some of our grandkids recently chose a week at Spring Canyon over a week at Disney World. Ministry to military believers in home OCF groups has been very powerful in both receiving and in serving. It saddens us that some participants and members get a good taste of God’s abundant forgiveness and joy but then find that the rigors of military life consumes them.
My prayers are for the military believers who have participated in OCF and even become members, but have become inactive. I pray that every OCFer will be empowered by the Holy Spirit, as David was when he wrote Psalm 40, to share the Good News of the Gospel at home, at work, and in the “great assembly” (culture) that surrounds us.
How I am praying God will move during the next 40 days
I will be praying that many of the “non-active” believers listed among the 17K+ OCF members will be awakened to what God can do through them as part of the actively participating OCF team.
